Eroded Rockscapes
In 2018 in was lucky enough to be awarded an Artist Residency on Flinders Island in Tasmania - a truly wild and spectacular place. The large-scale erosion of the rocks was echoed in shells, bones and other flotsam and jetsam that washed up on the beaches. While there I created "texture slabs" out of plaster and clay. These echo the geological strata that appear on so many of the rocks which face into the Bass Strait. I shipped these slabs back to Sydney and the forms regularly appear in my practice.
